SXSW Remembers Lemmy Kilmister Lemmy Kilmister, who died on December 28, led Motörhead through forty groundbreaking, head-banging years. SXSW proudly hosted the 2010 world premiere of the Lemmy documentary, as well as Motörhead showcases, and a special SXSW Music Conference interview. Great Year for SXSW 2015 Showcasing Artists Many 2015 SXSW Showcasing Artists wound up on annual top albums lists by NPR, Resident Advisor, SPIN, Rolling Stone, Stereogum, Pitchfork and more, with Grulke Prize winners Courtney Barnett and Leon Bridges receiving hefty praise across the board. Releases by artists such as Matrixxman, Girlpool, Seinabo Sey, Best Coast, Fetty Wap, Bully, Rabit, SOPHIE, Alex G, Shamir, Viet Cong, Speedy Ortiz, Rae Sremmurd and Waxahatchee were also praised as some of the best of the year. SXSW Accelerator Alum Closes Series A Funding Shelfbucks, an Austin, Texas-based company that makes dynamic marketing platforms for retail stores and brands, announced in November 2015 that it had closed its Series A funding and raised $6.5 million in venture capital. Shelfbucks was a Finalist in the Enterprise and Big Data Technologies Category at SXSW Accelerator 2014.
