News & Notes Matthew Inman First SXSW Interactive 2013 Keynote to be Announced Matthew Inman at SXSW 2012 SXSW Interactive Scholarship Winners Announced SXSW Interactive is pleased to announce that Matthew Inman will be one of the keynote speakers at SXSW Interactive 2013. Inman is the artist and best-selling author behind the comedy website known as The Oatmeal. In 2012, he championed two successful crowdfunding campaigns, including "Operation BearLove Good. Cancer Bad." where he turned a lawsuit on its head by raising over $200,000 for charity instead of paying $20,000 in damages to a rival website. In addition, he generated more than $1M in nine days to try to buy the laboratory formerly owned by Nikola Tesla, the late 19th and early 20th century electrical and mechanical engineer and inventor whom many consider a geek hero. The SXSW Interactive Hackathon 1.0 is complete! In Austin, Texas, from September 29–30, eight teams toiled for 24 hours, creating projects related to stroke patient data and ended up with some incredible applications. The top three projects and their teams won SXSW Interactive 2013 badges. The winning teams were: Stroke-Wise Global, DICOMbinator and Diagknow. Congratulations to all who participated! This health hackathon refl ects SXSW's ongoing commitment to devel- oping better solutions for this industry.
