Tomorrow Happens Here: New and Improved for 2013 What's New SXSW Gaming and Saturday Night Party SXSWedu Now a Festival After another successful conference, the bur- geoning SXSWedu continues its strong trajectory as a national and international convergence event focused on innovations in learning. A number of new and exciting developments in 2013 will expand the conference into a full-blown festival to be held March 4–7 in downtown Austin immediately before SXSW kicks off. With workshops, hackathons, net- working events and an expanded LAUNCHedu entrepreneurs' competition, SXSWedu 2013 is not to be missed. Learn more at sxswedu.com. Interactive Opening Party Moves to Friday The popular SXSW Interactive Opening Party, presented by frog and Microsoft, moves to a new night for 2013. The party will be held on Friday, March 8, 2013 from 8–11pm at the Palmer Events Center. There will be free shuttles between the Austin Convention Center and the party until 11:30pm. Introducing Film Startup Alley Brand new for SXSW Film 2013, Startup Alley will shine a light on emerging fi lm-related com- panies and business ventures, bringing together the startup, entrepreneur and investor com- munities within the SXSW Film Festival. Startup Alley will include panel programming, meet-ups, mentor sessions and a reception; events will take place at Austin Convention Center. Be it mobile, PC, console, comics or toys, gaming is everywhere, and SXSW is the perfect place to bring together players and enthusiasts from all over the world. Featuring demos, panels, tourna- ments, workshops and networking events, SXSW Gaming will take place March 8–10, 2013 at the Palmer Events Center. In addition, on Saturday March 9 from 7–10pm, the Video Game Voter's Network will sponsor a party featuring live bands presented by Alternative Press. All events are free and open to the public. Full Day of Music Programming on Tuesday We're adding a full day of Music and Convergence programming on Tuesday, March 12. Music registrants can experience not only a handful of Music panels, but also day of panels covering convergent issues around music, tech, fi lm, TV and beyond. Strait Music is back on board with accessories/instrument sales and guitar repair at the Gear Expo Store. The App Annex is new special section in the show that will feature hands-on music creation and mixing apps. Taylor Guitars, Apogee Electronics, Ultimate Ears, Propellerhead, Bullet Cable, Eventide, KMC Musicorp and Tonerite are a few of the many exhibitors so far for 2013. SXSWeek 2013 is March 8–17 INTERACTIVE: March 8–12 Trade Show Now Starts on Sunday New Film Venues SXSW Film 2013 will see some exciting venue additions. We're adding the Topfer Theater at the newly remodelled ZACH Theatre, as well as a swath of programming and events at the historic Stephen F. Austin building, our new fi lm destina- tion right next to the Paramount Theater.
