A Look Back Improvisation -- fearless, unabashed improvisation -- is key to all innovation whether in art or entrepreneurship. You have to give yourself permission to try ideas that seem silly, and to eat ravenously from the dog bowl of rejection. You need permission not only to fail, but to look like an idiot while you flail around and bang into the furniture as your old schoolmates laugh at you. Once you get through all that, you have a shot at doing something great. - Andrew Jarecki K A H P O O N Andrew Jarecki is a filmmaker and entrepreneur. He won an Emmy for his HBO series The Jinx: The Life and Deaths of Robert Durst. He was nominated for the Academy Award for Capturing the Friedmans, and produced Catfish, the film and television series. He also co-founded Moviefone and created KnowMe, a new mobile video and sharing platform. At SXSW 2016, he and longtime friend and collaborator JJ Abrams spoke about the relevance of the human factor in digital communication.
