Improvisation -- fearless, unabashed improvisation -- is key to
all innovation whether in art or entrepreneurship. You have to
give yourself permission to try ideas that seem silly, and to eat
ravenously from the dog bowl of rejection. You need permission
not only to fail, but to look like an idiot while you flail around and
bang into the furniture as your old schoolmates laugh at you. Once
you get through all that, you have a shot at doing something great.
