Seeing them just completely destroy such a small venue was incredible. - Chris Rose: Car Stereo (Wars) In 1996, I saw Spoon. That was the first time I went to SXSW alone, as a local Austin kid. We parked in what we thought was a legal parking spot, but returned that night to have had our car towed. - Nathan Lankford: Aus- tintownhall.com/ATH Records Polyphonic Spree at Stubbs 2002. We took their photo for our U.K. fanzine Circuit where Whole Foods is now, which became their album cover. Then somehow I ended up singing in the choir on tour the following year. Sums up the crazy magic of SXSW. - Crispin Parry: CEO, British Underground It was 2001 and a toss up be- tween Drive By Truckers, The Shiners and GIT during an after- noon - or Alejandro Escovedo free outside down by the Lake later that same night. - Stuart Coupe: Laughing Outlaw Records and Management (Sydney, Australia) Q : What show or event from your most recent SXSW was the most memorable / favorite? Every year, I try to pick one show as a fan. Last year it was Asgeir at the Communion showcase. I was blown away. - Kallen I will never forget watching Bruce Springsteen turn the Moody Theater inside out like a man possessed in 2012. It was very inspiring. His keynote speech was pretty amazing too. - Miles Zuniga: 2016 SXSW showcasing artist Last year, seeing Hinds, Kate Tempest, and Courtney Barnett all in one day. - Willinger At SXSW 2015, I loved seeing The Shivas, METZ and Future Islands in a row at The Mohawk. - Joan Guàrdia: Director, La Castanya record label and booking agency (Barcelona, Spain) The Levitation showcase at Hotel Vegas in 2014. We are excited to return this year! - Haring Saw Børns at the Parish last year. They couldn't make it to Reeperbahn Festival in 2015, but we are definitely on it for 2016. - Sieber 2015, Grupo Fantasma at the Palm Door and Giant Sand at the Continental. Getting suncream and beer at the German Haus was nice, too. - Christoph Storbeck: Striker Entertainment (Ruhr-area, GR/Palermo, IT) The last show I saw that really blew me away was Jimmy Webb and his kids in the basement of some club right off Congress. 2009 I think. - Ellis Amason at the Central Presby- terian Church. It felt particularly special being in the room that night. - Parry Q : If you are at tending SXSW 2016, what ar tist or event are you excited about? Tacocat, Tele Novella and Magic Wands. - Sellers I just make sure I get to see my friends in the Waco Brothers play every year. - Anderson Probably the mass amount of music and tech convergence panels and meetups. - Baker My goal is to be surprised! - Baer Excited about seeing Aries from Spain playing her first U.S. shows and Mrs Magician from San Diego. - Guàrdia I'm really excited for Bonin Bough to launch his first book TEXT ME at SXSW. It's all about the mobile revolution. - Kirsch- baum XIXA's showcases: for me as manager, it is a big pleasure and challenge to contribute to a ca- reer worldwide and that's what SXSW is amazing for. - Storbeck I'm really excited about The Spook School. - Lankford As always I decide about 37 seconds before the last avail- able plane leaves Sydney. The best event is the plane landing and the announcement that goes "Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to Austin." It's on. - Coupe 2 0 1 3 2 0 1 4 2 0 1 5 Dave Grohl M I N D Y B E S T / G E T T Y I M A G E S CeeLo Green S T E V E R O G E R S Shaquille O'Neal and Brian Solis D O N B E N D E R Boyhood Premiere M I C H A E L B U C K N E R / G E T T Y I M A G E S Snoop Dogg A M A N D A S T R O N Z A Gloria Trevi G E R R Y H A N A N / G E T T Y I M A G E S
