66 TRADE SHOW Trade Show Crew Chiefs: Mia, Colin, Eileen, Tony Trade Show Days of Operation: March 11 - 16, 2016 Trade Show Check In: Volunteers who work on this crew will check in outside Exhibit Hall 5. Exhibit Hall 5 is located on the northeast side of the Austin Convention Center (ACC). Trade Show Volunteer Responsibilities & Duties: The Trade Show Crew has many tasks within the trade show. The main function is to make sure the correct credentials are the only ones being let in during operating and non-operating hours, as well as supporting SXSW Staff to help the trade show run smoothly. The Trade Show Crew is responsible for checking all credentials that come through any entrances, communicating with exhibitors, and working as a team to clear the exhibit halls of all people at the end of the event each day. Shift leaders for Trade Show are responsible for keeping up with their team of 3-12 people and walking the Trade Show to check credentials. What Else Should Volunteers Know About the Trade Show Crew: Trade Show Volunteers may find it helpful to know the Austin Convention Center's layout. For example, you may get questions from exhibitors asking where the closest restroom or elevator is. Knowledge is power, of course! Trade Show Attire and Reminders: Trade Show Volunteers should wear the SXSW Volunteer t-shirt and tasteful bottoms. The temperature in the Austin Convention Center can fluctuate from cold to hot, so we recommend bringing layers (ex. hoodie, sweater, jacket) if you tend to get cold and sensible footwear to keep your feet comfortable throughout your shift. If you will be working before you receive your credential (for example, you may be waiting for a music badge, but working during Interactive) you will need to pick up a working volunteer day pass from Volunteer Central. How to Contact the Trade Show Crew: If you need to contact your Trade Show Crew Chiefs, you can email them at sxtradeshow@gmail.com. During the event, you may also call/text them on their show phone. Please make sure to call or text, then email your crew chiefs if you are going to miss your shift or arrive late. If it's less than 2 hours prior to the start of your shift, first email your crew, then call the Flake Task Force at (512) 404-4623 if you're going to be late or miss the shift.
