65 TECH SET-UP & TEARDOWN Tech Set-up & Teardown Crew Chiefs: Emily, Patrick, Sam, Jonathan Tech Set-up & Teardown Days of Operation: March 5 - 12, March 15 - 16, March 19 - 20, 2016 Tech Set-up & Teardown Check In: Volunteers who work on this crew will check in at Production Village, located in Exhibit Hall 5. Exhibit Hall 5 is located on the northeast side of the Austin Convention Center (ACC). Tech Set-up & Teardown Crew Duties/ Areas of Responsibility: Tech Set-up & Teardown builds the network and powers up the ACC before the event, and tears it all down afterwards. Volunteers will be plugging in network and power cables and then taping them down to the floor. There is also a need to update some of the computers that will be used onsite. For the teardown, volunteers will take up all the cables and box them up for next year. Tech Set-up & Teardown Crew Attire and Reminders: Tech Set-up & Teardown Volunteers should wear the SXSW Volunteer t-shirt and tasteful bottoms. Remember, the ACC temperature fluctuates and layering is recommended. Wearing comfortable shoes and socks is recommended. As there will be some crawling and bending when installing cables, please wear comfortable clothing that you don't mind getting dirty. If you will be working before you receive your credential (for example, you may be waiting for a music badge, but working during Interactive) you will need to pick up a working volunteer day pass from Volunteer Central. What Else Should Volunteers Know About the Tech Set-up & Teardown Crew: Although tech is the first word in Tech Set- up & Teardown, volunteers don't have to be technical at all to be on this crew. Training will be given onsite. How to Contact the Tech Set-up & Teardown Crew: Volunteers who work on the Tech Set-up & Teardown Crew are asked to first email the crew chiefs if you are going to be late, miss a shift or need other assistance, time permitting. The Tech Set-up & Teardown Crew email is sxtechsetup@gmail.com. If it's less than 2 hours prior to the start of your shift, first email your crew, then call the Flake Task Force at (512) 404-4623 if you're going to be late or miss the shift.
