47 OUTDOOR STAGE CREW Outdoor Stage Crew Chiefs: Matt, Liz Outdoor Stage Days of Operation: March 16 - 20, 2016 Outdoor Stage Check In: Volunteer who work on this crew will check- in at the SXSW Outdoor Stage at Lady Bird Lake, which is located at Barton Springs and South 1st Streets. Outdoor Stage Crew Duties/Areas of Responsibility: SXSW Outdoor Stage at Lady Bird Lake (formerly the Auditorium Shores Stage) is SXSW's largest stage with more than 50,000 attendees over three days. Since the concert park is so large, volunteers help be the "eyes and ears" to make sure the event runs smoothly from pre production (setup) through post event (tear down). Our goal is to provide the wonderful people of Austin with good times and free music! On the pre event setup day, volunteers will hang signs and configure the tables/guest lines at the entrances and exits. During the event, volunteers will staff the entrances to the park and various access points within it. Volunteers will monitor to make sure guests are safe and answer any questions about the event. On the post event tear down day, volunteers will collect the signs/banners and prepare them to be stored for next year. Outdoor Stage Crew Attire and Reminders: Outdoor Stage Volunteers should wear the SXSW Volunteer t-shirt and tasteful bottoms. All of our shifts are outdoors, so please dress in layers because the weather in Austin is unpredictable. Comfortable shoes are a must. Please check the weather before your shifts. There is no onsite storage for personal belongings, so only bring things that you can carry with you. What Else Should Volunteer Know About the Outdoor Stage Crew: There will be multiple entrance gates at the park. We will have a site map that labels the gates and locations inside the park. Please familiarize yourself with the map so that you do not get lost and so you can assist guests with questions they may have. How to Contact the Outdoor Stage Crew: Volunteers who work on the Outdoor Stage Crew should email the crew if they will be late or are unable to work a shift at sxoutdoorstage@gmail.com. If it's less than 2 hours prior to the start of your shift, email your crew, then call the Flake Task Force at (512) 404-4623 if you're going to be late or miss the shift.
