40 HOSPITALITY Hospitality Crew Chiefs & Staff: Brandon, Alex, Melissa, David, Chris, Bob, Christina Hospitality Days of Operation: March 7 – 19, 2016 Hospitality Check In: Volunteers who work on this crew will check in at the Hilton Garden Inn. The entrance is near the Hospitality sign on the ramp closest to 5th Street and Sabine Street. Hospitality Crew Duties/Areas of Responsibility: The Hospitality Crew works out of the Hilton Garden Inn and assists with the feeding of staff & volunteers. Volunteer duties include checking badges, scanning QR codes, taking to-go orders by phone or online, making small food deliveries to staff at and near the Austin Convention Center, and keeping hospitality areas clean and tidy. Hospitality Crew Attire and Reminders: Hospitality Volunteers should wear the SXSW Volunteer t-shirt and tasteful bottoms. Some duties require being outside so check the weather forecast daily and dress accordingly. Wearing comfortable shoes and socks are recommended. If you will be working before you receive your credential (for example, you may be waiting for a music badge, but working during Interactive) you will need to pick up a working volunteer day pass from your crew chief. What Else Should Volunteers Know About the Hospitality Crew: Hospitality is defined as the friendly and generous reception and entertainment of guests, visitors, or strangers. It's an opportunity to encounter the many faces of SXSW, so a good attitude and a smile goes a long way. Hospitality sometimes utilizes bicycles to assist with the delivery of food to working staff and crews who are unable to break away from their posts. We promote a relaxed atmosphere and have a lot of fun while doing it! How to Contact the Hospitality Crew: Volunteers who work on the Hospitality Crew are asked to first email the crew chiefs if you are going to be late, miss a shift or need other assistance, time permitting. The Hospitality Crew email is sxhospitality@ gmail.com. If it's less than 2 hours prior to the start of your shift, email your crew, then call the Flake Task Force at (512) 404-4623 if you're going to be late or miss the shift.
