33 FILM PANELS AND MENTORS Film Panels and Mentors Crew Chiefs: Daniel, Mark, Brandy, Mimi Film Panels and Mentors Days of Operation: March 11 - March 15, 2016 Film Panels and Mentors Check In: Rooms 17A and 11AB in the Austin Convention Center as well as the Stephen F. Austin Hotel, depending on where you are assigned. Film Panels and Mentors Duties/Areas of Responsibility: Film Panels manages the green room for speakers and a series of rooms for small and large format speaker events. We manage the doors and traffic in and out of the rooms as well as getting speakers to and from the rooms. Film Mentors manages a series of one-on-one sessions with film industry professionals. Each 90-minute block includes eight 10-minute sessions that festival attendees sign up for online or in person. Some volunteer tasks include: • Monitoring access to panel rooms • Escorting speakers and mentors to and from the green room • Assisting mentees with sign-up for available sessions • Timing mentor sessions Film Panels and Mentors Crew Attire and Reminders: Film Panels and Mentors Volunteers should wear their volunteer t-shirt and tasteful bottoms. Comfortable shoes are a must. You will walk in the convention center and between venues a lot. If you will be working before you receive your credential (for example, you may be waiting for a music badge, but working during Interactive) you will need to pick up a working volunteer day pass from Volunteer Central. What Else Should Volunteers Know About the Film Panels and Mentors Crew: We try to assign volunteers to rooms and tasks that they are most interested in whenever possible. Shift leaders run many of the rooms we manage in the convention center and off-site venues during the festival.
