32 EXHIBITION CREW Exhibition Crew Chiefs: Margery, Mark, Javier Exhibition Days of Operation: March 14 - 19, 2016 Exhibition Check In: Volunteers who work on this crew  will check-in at a specific location  communicated by your crew chief and  listed in your Shiftboard schedule. Check- in locations vary depending on your shift  location. Exhibition Crew Volunteer Responsibilities & Duties: The Exhibition Crew and its volunteers  have  many tasks within the SXSW official  exhibitions. The main function is to make  sure the correct credentials are the only  ones being let in during operation and non- operation hours, as well as maintain the  exhibitions by helping them run smoothly.  The volunteers assist as needed at the  exhibits that may have guest performers,  giveaways, special appearances, or any  additional special events within the exhibits.  The volunteers also help with answering  simple questions about the exhibit, for  example opening and closing times. The  volunteers communicate with registrants  and exhibitors. They work as a team to  manage the exhibitions efficiently.  Exhibition Crew Attire and Reminders: Exhibition Crew Volunteers should wear  their volunteer t-shirt and tasteful bottoms.  The temperature in the Austin Convention  Center can fluctuate from cold to hot, so  we recommend bringing layers (ex. hoodie,  sweater, jacket) if you tend to get cold  and sensible footwear to keep your feet  comfortable throughout your shift. Also  feel free to bring a water bottle. Volunteers  are also asked to put your cell phone away  while on shift, so that you can be more  approachable. If you will be working before  you receive your credential (for example,  you may be waiting for a music badge, but  working during Interactive) you will need to  pick up a working volunteer day pass from  Volunteer Central. What Else Should Volunteers Know About the Exhibition Crew: Exhibition volunteers may find it helpful  to know the Austin Convention Center's  layout. Many floors are covered, and from  time to time a volunteer may be a "runner."  This could mean visiting Volunteer Central  or other runs. Another example is that you  may get questions from exhibitors asking  where the closest restroom or elevator  is. Knowledge is power, of course! The  Exhibition Crew also gives you a ton of  chances to make friends! Better yet, bring  a friend to volunteer with you to join in the  fun.  How to Contact the Exhibition Crew: If you need to contact your Exhibition  Crew Chiefs, you can email them at  sxexhibitions@gmail.com. During the event,  you may also call/text them on their show  phone. Please make sure to call or text and  then email your crew chiefs if you are going  to miss your shift or arrive late. If it's less  than 2 hours prior to the start of your shift,  email your crew, then call the Flake Task  Force at (512) 404-4623 if you're going to be  late or miss the shift.
