31 EVENT SIGNAGE Event Signage Staff and Crew Chiefs: Caleb, Andrew, AJ, Zach Event Signage Days of Operation: Pre-event & March 6-20, 2016 Event Signage Check In: Volunteers who work on this crew will check-in at Production Village, located in Exhibit Hall 5. Exhibit Hall 5 is located on the northeast side of the ACC, near the corner of 4th and Red River. Event Signage Volunteer Responsibilities & Duties: The Event Signage Crew is responsible for producing/constructing all event signage around the Austin Convention Center and official SXSW venues. Using foamcore, paper, laminators, spray-mount adhesive, x-actos and other sign-making tools, the crew makes signs for SXSWedu and SXSW Music, Film & Interactive. Adobe InDesign skills are a plus, but not required. Additionally, the crew retrieves signage and stands for signs not returned at the end of the event. Event Signage Attire and Reminders: High Beam Events Volunteers should wear their volunteer t-shirt and tasteful bottoms. The temperature in the Austin Convention Center can fluctuate from cold to hot, so we recommend bringing layers (ex. hoodie, sweater, jacket) if you tend to get cold and sensible footwear to keep your feet comfortable throughout your shift. If you will be working before you receive your credential (for example, you may be waiting for a music badge, but working during Interactive) you will need to pick up a working volunteer day pass from Volunteer Central. What Else Should Volunteers Know About the Event Signage Crew: During your experience with Event Signage there will be times where we are very busy and times where we are very slow. Feel free to bring something to occupy yourself when things are slow, but be prepared to jump into action when you are needed. Also, there are a ton of people to meet and Event Signage allows opportunity for great networking and conversation. How to Contact the Event Signage Crew: If you need to contact your Event Signage Crew Chiefs, you can email them, and during the SXSW event, please email your crew chiefs if you are going to miss your shift or arrive late. Event Signage Crew Email: sxeventsignage@gmail.com. If it's less than 2 hours prior to the start of your shift, email your crew, then call the Flake Task Force at (512) 404-4623 if you're going to be late or miss the shift.
