41 INFORMATION CREW Information Crew Chiefs: Brittney, David, Edith, Jeff, John, Josh, Shirley, Jeanette, Alfred, Johnny, Spring Information Crew Days of Operation: March 6-19, 2016 Information Crew Check In: Volunteers who work on this crew will check in at one of the primary Information Booths. Your crew chiefs will communicate with you its exact location via Shiftboard. Information Crew Volunteer Responsibilities & Duties: The Information Volunteer Crew contributes to an environment of customer satisfaction by making the registrants needs a first priority. They make themselves available to answer questions, offer directions and make the registrants feel welcome. An Information Volunteer will work from an information kiosk or table, answering registrant questions. Most of the tasks will include pointing registrants to common locations such as Registration. Information Crew Shift Leaders assume the role of team leader of a SXSW Information kiosk. Specific duties include managing lunches, using a walkie-talkie, and making sure the exceptionally awesome volunteers who go above and beyond get recognized by the crew chiefs. What Else Should Volunteers Know About the Information Crew: The Information Crew provides reference materials, so you don't have to know everything about SXSW or Austin to work on the crew. Information Crew Wardrobe and Reminders: Information Crew Volunteers should wear their volunteer t-shirt and tasteful bottoms. The temperature in the Austin Convention Center can fluctuate from cold to hot, so we recommend bringing layers (ex. hoodie, sweater, jacket) if you tend to get cold and sensible footwear to keep your feet comfortable throughout your shift. If you will be working before you receive your credential (for example, you may be waiting for a music badge, but working during Interactive) you will need to pick up a working volunteer day pass from your crew chief or Volunteer Central, depending on your shift location. How to Contact the Information Crew: If you need to contact your Information Crew Chiefs during the event you may email them at sxinform@gmail.com or call them on their show phone. Please make sure to email and call your crew chiefs if you are going to miss your shift or arrive late. If it's less than 2 hours prior to the start of your shift, email your crew, then call the Flake Task Force at (512) 404-4623 if you're going to be late or miss the shift.
