Convention Center Stage Crew Duties/Areas of Responsibility: Our crew assists the stage managers with a variety of needs at the Radio Daystage and International Stage located in the Austin Convention Center. This job might require you to lift heavy equipment during set changes. Duties include load-in and load- out of the bands, assisting with band set-up as directed, and securing the backstage area to ensure only properly credentialed people are allowed access. Volunteers may assist sponsors as requested, and help maintain the appearance of the stages. Convention Center Stage Crew Attire and Reminders: Convention Center Stage Crew Volunteers should wear their SXSW Volunteer t-shirt, tasteful bottoms and comfortable shoes. There is a lot of standing and walking. If you will be working before you receive your credential (for example, you may be waiting for a music badge, but working during Interactive) you will need to pick up a working volunteer day pass from Volunteer Central. What Else Should Volunteers Know About the Convention Center Stage Crew: The Daystage and International Stage are both really fun stages to work. We get a lot of well-known and unique bands. While this crew does work a lot with load-in and out of the artists, you also get to hear some of the music. Make sure you wear earplugs if you're sensitive to loud sounds. How to Contact the Convention Center Stage Crew: Volunteers on this crew can contact the crew chiefs at their email sxdaystage@ gmail.com before the event or once onsite please text both crew chiefs. If it's less than 2 hours prior to the start of your shift, email your crew, then call the Flake Task Force at (512) 404-4623 if you're going to be late or miss the shift.
