24 ARTIST PARKING OPS Artist Parking Ops Crew Chiefs: Jamie, Ale, Pam, Anthony (A-Train),  Kristen Artist Parking Ops Days of Operation: March 11 – 20, 2016 Artist Parking Ops Check In: Artist Parking Ops has a "homebase" street  location between 5th and 6th Streets where  the crew checks in. (Exact location coming  soon!) Artist Parking Ops Crew Duties/Areas of Responsibility: The Artist Parking Ops Crew monitors artist  parking and the streets of Austin during  the SXSW Interactive, Film, and Music  Festivals. Volunteers assist with street  closures during the interactive festival.  During music, volunteers are in charge of  maintaining SXSW designated loading and  unloading zones, handing out parking maps  and passes to official SXSW artists, and  helping maintain flow for oversized vehicles  throughout the city.  Artist Parking Ops Attire and Reminders: Artist Parking Ops Volunteers should wear  the SXSW Volunteer t-shirt and tasteful  bottoms. Volunteers will be working  outside so be prepared for changes in the  weather, from hot to cold, wet to dry and  everything else in between.  Remember,  Austin weather in March can sometimes  be unpredictable and dressing in layers is  a good idea.  If you will be working before  you receive your credential (for example,  you may be waiting for a music badge, but  working during Interactive) you will need to  pick up a working volunteer day pass from  your crew chief . What Else Should Volunteers Know About the Artist Parking Ops Crew: We move around a lot! Don't bring anything  with you that you're unwilling to carry with  you all night. Wear comfortable, closed- toed shoes. Leave the flip-flops and high  heels at home. It's a rain or shine event, so  being prepared for the weather is key. Pay  attention to the weather reports and dress  accordingly.  We work hard, but have a lot of fun! You  will meet a lot of people and interact with a  variety of artists and individuals throughout  the festival. It is a great way to learn the city  and everything SXSW has to offer because  you are on the streets with the attendees.  How to Contact the Artist Parking Ops Crew: Volunteers who work on the Artist Parking  Ops Crew are asked to first email the crew  chiefs if you are going to be late, miss a shift  or need other assistance, time permitting.  The Artist Parking Ops Crew email is  sxartistparkingops@gmail.com.  If it's less  than 2 hours prior to the start of your shift,  email your crew, then call the Flake Task  Force at (512) 404-4623 if you're going to be  late, or miss the shift.
