23 CREW INFORMATION ACCELERATOR Accelerator Crew Chiefs & Staff: Sharla, Richard, Michelle Accelerator Days of Operation: March 11 – 13, 2016 Accelerator Check In: Volunteers who work on this crew will check-in on the 4th floor of the Hilton Austin, 500 E. 4th Street. Accelerator Crew Duties/Areas of Responsibility: The Accelerator Crew operates in several rooms on the 4th floor of the Hilton Austin. Volunteer duties include checking badges, monitoring both the inside and outside of event rooms, and assisting in the green room and with finalist check- in. In addition, a few selected (and returning) volunteers take on specialized roles in the stage production area under the supervision of their shift leaders. This includes stage management and running slides for presenters. Others register and instruct finalists, escort finalists to their places in the stage area, as well as tally, record and secure presenters' scores. Stage management and technical assistance positions are also available to experienced volunteers. Accelerator Crew Attire and Reminders: Accelerator Volunteers should wear the SXSW Volunteer t-shirt and tasteful bottoms. The Hilton temperature fluctuates and layering is recommended. Wearing comfortable shoes and socks is recommended. If you will be working before you receive your credential (for example, you may be waiting for a music badge, but working during Interactive) you will need to pick up a working volunteer day pass from Volunteer Central. What Else Should Volunteers Know About the Accelerator Crew: Accelerator is a competition that gives innovative new companies the opportunity to showcase their product or company in front of a panel of professional industry expert judges and a live audience. Volunteers will assist with setup, execution and breakdown of this event. This is a fast- paced competition, therefore being flexible and having a positive attitude is required. How to Contact the Accelerator Crew: Volunteers who work on the Accelerator Crew are asked to first email the crew chiefs if you are going to be late, miss a shift or need other assistance, time permitting. The Accelerator Crew email is sxaccelerator@ gmail.com. If it's less than 2 hours prior to the start of your shift, email your crew, then call the Flake Task Force at (512) 404-4623 if you're going to be late or miss the shift.
