Dr. Sylvia Earle is an iconic figure in the world of oceanography. Founder of Mission Blue,
the Sylvia Earle Alliance and Deep Ocean Exploration and Research Inc., and former chief
scientist at NOAA, she has logged more than 7,000 hours underwater earning her the titles "Her
Deepness" from The New York Times and "Living Legend" from the Library of Congress.
In her SXSW Eco Keynote address, "Sustainable Seas: The Vision and the Reality,"
she discussed the importance of understanding our relationship with the natural
world in order to help preserve it and ourselves in the process.
