72 MEET UPS Designed to provide a designated location  and time for SXSW registrants to network  with other industry professionals who  share similar career paths, passions, and  social interests. MUSIC FESTIVAL CREW Operates during the nights of SXSW  Music (March 15 – 20). Music Festival  crews work on an hourly basis. Crews  work at various SXSW official music  venues. ON-SITE Refers to the period of time on location at  the ACC and official venues during SXSW  operations. PANELS Panels typically feature one moderator  and four or five industry experts who  represent different perspectives and  opinions. Solo and dual presentations  offer less diversity of opinion, but more  in-depth analysis. Each of these types of  sessions is one hour in length. PRODUCTION VILLAGE Area in Exhibit Hall 5 of the ACC that  houses the majority of the SXSW Staff  work areas. Volunteer Central is located in  Production Village. REGISTRATION ANNEX The area located across from main  Registration in Exhibit Hall 5 where check- in desks for groups including housing,  press, sponsors, speakers and exhibitors  are located. SHIFT LEADER Returning volunteers who have  demonstrated excellent leadership and  communication skills. Shift leaders are  chosen by the crew chiefs to assist them  during a particular shift. SHOWCASE Refers to the slotted time in which a  chosen SXSW music act performs their  music/talent. STAGE MANAGER Volunteer manager that coordinates  volunteers and music showcases within  their assigned SXSW music venue. SVC Special Venues Crew. Roaming volunteer  teams that assist venues in need of  additional crowd control. SVC volunteers  handle lines and crowds at official venues  only. THEATER MANAGER Volunteer manager in charge of a specific  SXSW theater. They are responsible for  making sure the theater runs smoothly,  and communicate any problems to the  SXSW Staff. TRADE SHOW Four-day exhibition show that brings  together organizations that define the  ever-evolving relationship between media,  technology, creators and consumers.  Operating days are March 13th-16th COMMONLY USED TERMS (CONTINUED)
