70 Q: WHAT IS A SXSW WORKING VOLUNTEER PASS? A: A SXSW Working Volunteer Pass is  given to volunteers who must work in an  area that requires a credential, but the  volunteer has yet to receive any sort of perk  allowing them into those areas, or their perk  does not correspond with the conference  or festival they are working. Volunteers  who work in the ACC can obtain working  volunteer passes from Volunteer Central.  Volunteers working in other SXSW venues  may obtain their working volunteer day  passes from their crew chief. SXSW  Working Volunteer Passes are not good  for entry into anywhere except the area in  which you are assigned to work. Q: AM I ALLOWED TO ATTEND THE TRADE SHOW? A:  You may attend the trade show if you  have the appropriate credential (badge).  Working volunteer passes and volunteer  t-shirts do not give you access to the  trade show, so please do not hassle the  volunteers staffing the doors unless you  have a badge. Q: ARE THERE RULES FOR ATTENDING THE TRADE SHOW? A:  If you have a SXSW Badge to access the  trade show, remember these few simple  rules: The trade show is not a place to trick-or- treat. The exhibitors spend a lot of money  to purchase "swag" to hand out in their  booth to potential business contacts. The  purpose of a trade show is to meet potential  customers, business partners, etc. It really  upsets our clients when volunteers start  shoveling freebies into their bag. Instead,  stop and speak with the exhibitor. Show  interest in their product or services. More  than likely they will offer you something  in return for listening. Do not wear your  volunteer t-shirt in the trade show unless  you are working on the volunteer Trade  Show Crew and are on a shift. This is to  your benefit too. Exhibitors are less likely to  take issue if they do not know that you are  a volunteer out for a freebie, and feel that  you are legitimately interested in what they  have to offer. Q: WHERE CAN I FIND OUT MORE DETAILED INFORMATION ABOUT VOLUNTEERING AND SXSW? A: You can always find the most up-to- date volunteer information on the SXSW  Volunteer website: volunteer.sxsw.com.
