61 SX CREATE SX Create Crew Chiefs: Brian, Stephanie, Tony SX Create Days of Operation: March 10 - 13, 2016 SX Create Check In: SX Create Volunteers will check in at the Palmer Events Center (900 Barton Springs Road). SX Create Volunteer Responsibilities & Duties: The SX Create Crew is instrumental in the success of the SX Create event. Crew members give directions and information to attendees about the event, monitor speaking sessions and meet-ups, help vendors with load in and load out information, and help manage a satellite venue. The SX Create volunteers will help attendees find speaking rooms, direct people to meet- ups, provide general information about SX Create, and keep a count of the number of people attending the event. The load in and load out volunteers will help exhibitors find the correct booth space, send exhibitors to the correct venue management for any problems that may arise, and assist with light assembly and signage for the event. Shift leaders for SX Create are responsible for organizing crew members and distributing volunteers to their locations and monitoring volunteers. What Else Should Volunteers Know About the SX Create Crew: A basic understanding of what is going on at the SX Create event: SX Create is a do-it- yourself extravaganza filled with wondrous specialty items only found in a community such as this. It's basically a lot of cool things like lasers, 3-D printing, robots, virtual reality, R2-D2, the TARDIS, and a really cool DJ. If you are outgoing and friendly you will have a blast. SX Create Attire and Reminders: SX Create Volunteers should wear the SXSW Volunteer t-shirt and tasteful bottoms. The temperature in the Palmer Event Center can fluctuate from cold to hot, so we recommend bringing layers (ex. hoodie, sweater, jacket) if you tend to get cold and sensible footwear to keep your feet comfortable throughout your shift. For the load in and load out volunteers, a jacket will be nice as this is an indoor and outdoor position, and the weather in March tends to be unpredictable. If you will be working before you receive your credential (for example, you may be waiting for a music badge, but working during Interactive) you will need to pick up a working volunteer day pass from your crew chief. How to Contact the SX Create Crew: If you need to contact your SX Create Crew Chiefs, you can email them at sxswsxcreate@gmail.com. During the event, you may also call/text them on their show phone. Please make sure to first email your crew chiefs, then call them on their show phone if you are going to miss your shift or arrive late. If it's less than 2 hours prior to the start of your shift, email your crew first, then call the Flake Task Force at (512) 404-4623 if you're going to be late or miss the shift.
