54 RELIEF CREW Relief Crew Chiefs: George, Lanny, Jeff, Kerri, Susan, Victoria, Nichelle, Lorraine Relief Crew Days of Operation: March 6 - March 19, 2016 Relief Crew Check In: Volunteers check in at the Austin Convention Center (ACC) behind Volunteer Central in Exhibit Hall 5. Relief Crew Duties/Areas of Responsibility: The Relief Crew is here to provide support for other crews as needed. They assist with anything and everything. They like to consider themselves the "Army Reserves" of the conference! Be on time and ready to help. The crew typically assists with many different tasks in a given shift. A volunteer could help with Registration, then manage a crowd, then help with boxes. Relief Crew Attire and Reminders: Relief Volunteers should wear the SXSW Volunteer t-shirt and tasteful bottoms. Wear comfortable closed-toed shoes. Wear weather appropriate clothes, including layers for warmth for the changing temperature within the ACC. If you will be working before you receive your credential (for example, you may be waiting for a music badge, but working during Interactive) you will need to pick up a working volunteer day pass from your crew chief. What Else Should Volunteers Know About the Relief Crew: During your experience with Relief Crew, there will be times when we are very busy, and times where we are very slow. Feel free to bring something to occupy yourself when things are slow, but be prepared to jump into action when you are needed. How to Contact the Relief Crew: The best ways to reach the Relief Crew Chiefs during the event are phone and email. The phone number will be provided closer to the event. The Relief Crew email is sxrelief@gmail.com. If it's less than 2 hours prior to the start of your shift, first email your crew, then call the Flake Task Force at (512) 404-4623 if you're going to be late or miss the shift.
