50 PRESS & PUBLICITY Press & Publicity Crew Chiefs: Christina, Janessa, Josh, Jeremy, Amanda,  & Renée Press & Publicity Days of Operation: March 10 - 19, 2016 Press and Publicity Check In: Volunteers who work on this crew will  check in at the Press Desk located in  Exhibit Hall 5. Exhibit Hall 5 is located on  the northeast side of the Austin Convention  Center, near the corner of 4th and Red River.  If you are working outside of the Press  Desk, your crew chiefs will communicate  your check-in location. Press & Publicity Volunteer Responsibilities & Duties: The Press & Publicity Crew is responsible  for answering questions, tagging cameras,  issuing day passes, being polite, and  providing the appropriate and correct  information to Press & Publicity attendees. Shift leaders for Press & Publicity are  utilized in the Press Suite (since the crew  is not stationed there, but is in charge of  managing it), and shift leaders are trained to  be able to answer almost everything a crew  chief can answer. Shift leaders also work at  the Press Desk to be the go-to person when  crew chiefs are at lunch, or when crew  chiefs are solving a problem and another  volunteer needs our help. Press & Publicity  attendees can require a lot of attention, so  the assistance of Shift Leaders is valued.  What Else Should Volunteers Know About the Press & Publicity Crew: The best skills to have for the Press &  Publicity Crew is the ability to be kind &  professional, but firm.  Press & Publicity Attire and Reminders: Press & Publicity Volunteers should wear  their volunteer t-shirt and tasteful bottoms. The temperature in the Austin Convention  Center can fluctuate from cold to hot,  so we recommend bringing layers (ex.  hoodie, sweater, jacket) if you tend to get  cold and sensible footwear to keep your  feet comfortable throughout your shift.  If you will be working before you receive  your credential (for example, you may be  waiting for a music badge, but working  during Interactive) you will need to pick up a  working volunteer day pass from Volunteer  Central if working the Press desk. You will  need to pick it up from your crew chief if  working in a different location. How to Contact the Press & Publicity Crew: If you need to contact your Press &  Publicity Crew Chiefs, you can email them  at sxpressandpub@gmail.com. During the  event, you may also call/text them on their  show phone. Please make sure to call or  text, then email your crew chiefs if you are  going to miss your shift, or arrive late. If it's  less than 2 hours prior to the start of your  shift first, email and then call the Flake Task  Force at (512) 404-4623 if you're going to be  late or miss the shift.
