21 PERK PICK-UP INFORMATION One of the most important functions of Volunteer Central is issuing your perks.  Volunteer perks are given out on the honor system. Meaning you do not have to work  all of your hours before picking up your perk. We have certain measures in place in the  event that a volunteer decides to deliberately abuse the terms of their volunteer perk. IMPORTANT: Check the Quick Reference section of this guide for exact perk pick-up  times. It is important to remember that Volunteer Central is NOT open the same hours  as Registration. You must come during the designated perk pick-up times to receive  your perk from Volunteer Central. Registration is NOT equipped to print badges for  volunteers. The perk pick-up process can take up to 30 minutes, so please plan your  schedule accordingly. Being late to a shift because you were waiting for a perk is not an  acceptable excuse. YOU MUST BRING A PHOTO ID WITH YOU IN ORDER TO OBTAIN YOUR PERK. VOLUNTEER HOSPITALIT Y SXSW offers all volunteers working 6 hours or more in a day (24 hour period) a meal.  If you work more than 12 hours in a day you will receive a second meal.  Volunteers  are given approximately 45 minutes to eat, or take a break. SXSW Hospitality is an  alternative to the long lines and expensive food you may encounter throughout Austin,  however it is certainly not required that you eat our food. We use a variety of methods to get everyone fed. Our main hospitality location is  located at the Sabine Street Food Court between 6th and 7th Streets. Hilton Garden  Inn (entrance is at 5th & Sabine) will have healthy grab-and-go options as well. In  addition, many of our satellite venues will be provided food options at local eating  establishments. All eligible volunteers will be issued a food pass with a personalized  QR code when you check in at Volunteer Central. You must have your food pass with  you to eat.  Meal selection will vary by location, however all locations offer a vegetarian selection.  Any other dietary needs should be accommodated by the volunteer. Please remember  to throw away your trash after eating and recycle when possible. Bon apetit!
