57 SPECIAL VENUES CREW (SVC) SVC Staff and Crew Chiefs: Todd P, Thorr, Cari, George, Catherine, John, Bruce, Tim Sr., Tim Jr., Fish, Craig, Bob, JP, Jennifer, Jamar, Johnny, Amy, Lucy, Lynda R, Damian, Nate, Alexa, Marc, Linda T, Shermay, Alan (Comms Center), James, Boris, Xtina, Mijoe, Diamond SVC Days of Operation: March 11 – 20, 2016 SVC Check In: During IA/Film, meet at the location you are scheduled, which is designated in Shiftboard (usually The Paramount Theater or one of the SXSW parties we help with.) On music nights, meet at the Hilton Garden Inn at 5th and the IH-35 Service Road in the Creekside Room. The entrance is on 5th street. SVC Crew Duties/Areas of Responsibility: SVC is a roaming volunteer team that assist venues in need of additional crowd support. Volunteers handle lines and crowds outside of official venues. Crew members are not assigned to a specific venue but instead assist at any location as needed. In addition, this crew has a bike team that rides throughout the downtown area assisting with crowd control. Special Venues Crew Attire and Reminders: SVC Volunteers should wear their SVC Crew t-shirt, hat, and tasteful bottoms. Volunteers will be working outside, so be prepared for changes in the weather, from hot to cold, wet to dry and everything else in between. Remember, Austin weather in March can sometimes be unpredictable and dressing in layers is a good idea. If you will be working before you receive your credential (for example, you may be waiting for a music badge, but working during Interactive) you will need to pick up a working volunteer day pass from your crew chief. What Else Should Volunteers Know About the Special Venues Crew: We move around a lot. Don't bring anything with you you're unwilling to carry with you all night. Wear comfortable, close-toed shoes! Leave the flip-flops and high heels at home! We don't necessarily stay at the venue we start out at. We're very visible - smile! How to Contact the SVC Crew: Volunteers who work on the Special Venues Crew are asked to first email the crew chiefs if you are going to be late, miss a shift or need other assistance, time permitting. The Special Venues Crew email is sxspecialvenues@gmail.com. If it's less than 2 hours prior to the start of your shift, first email your crew, then call the Flake Task Force at (512) 404-4623 if you're going to be late or miss the shift. Your staff and crew chiefs will also provide phone numbers for them on-site.
