The Austin Community Foundation, with assistance from the Victim Services Division of the Austin Police Department and American Red Cross, is disbursing funds donated to SXSW Cares to those most af- fected for expenses not covered by other sources. To date, the fund has raised over $200,000 with much of that coming from 30 benefit shows held around Austin from April 12- 20, as well as in a recently concluded online silent auction. In addition, a Round Rock, Texas dance studio raised $1,500 by giving dance lessons to kids. Even though more than 2,500 people have donated to the fund, donations are still needed and can be made by visiting sxswcares.com. Links to additional fundraisers and memorial events for individual victims can be found on sxsw.com/sxswcares. SXSW sends our best wishes to the injured; a number of whom are still recovering.
