S X S W O R L D / M A Y 2 0 1 4 1 9 F rom the moment we stepped onto the plane from NYC, it was clear that everyone there was headed to SXSW. The plane was abuzz with the energetic hum of gadgets, phones and anticipation. We could hardly help ourselves from playing the "Interactive or Film?" game as we looked around the cabin. Suit? "Interactive." Leather jacket? "Film." Plaid shirt? "hmmm... could be all of the above." But as we talked to people on the plane, and then, at the festival, we learned that hardly anyone was just Interactive or just Film or just Music. We were all drawn to SXSW not only to launch our projects but also to expand our understand- ings of one medium by colliding it with another and another until we felt overwhelmed by the sparks of possibility. - Catherine Gund and Jessica Ruffin (Director and Associate Producer: Born to Fly) Registrants, panelists, filmmakers and artists chronicle SXSW 2014 in their own words.
