SXSW V2V Returns to Las Vegas for its Second Year With New Dates July 13–16, 2014 New Location for Digital Creative Job Market With a daytime lineup at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas, and evening events at various locations along the Las Vegas strip, SXSW V2V 2014 will highlight the intersection between creative industries and the startup and entrepreneurial landscape. In 2013, the Digital Creative Job Market enabled SXSW attendees to connect with potential employers. In 2014, the Digital Creative Job Market moves to Ballrooms ABC on the first floor of the Austin Convention Center and will be held Thursday and Friday, March 6–7. sxsw.com/interactive/job-market New Day for the Dewey Winburne Community Service Awards The Dewey Awards honor community do-gooders who use innovative applications of digital technology to make the world better. For 2014, we move this ceremony to Thursday evening, March 6. Remember that the Dewey Awards are free and do not require a SXSW badge to attend. sxsw.com/interactive/awards/dewey Earlier Friday Start Time In previous years, SXSW Interactive panel programming did not begin until 2pm on the first day of the event. This year, Friday, March 7 sessions will commence at 11am at the Austin Convention Center and several other venues. More Free Content at the Long Center SXSW Interactive will offer free panel content geared towards the video game industry, at the Long Center (701 W. Riverside Dr.). This venue is located next to the Palmer Events Center, home of the SXSW Gaming Expo. sxsw.com/interactive/ participate/gaming Renegade Craft Fair at the Palmer Events Center SXSW is partnering with the Renegade Craft Fair, a curated indie-craft marketplace, to launch a new addition to the SXSW exhibition lineup. Located at the Palmer Events Center, Thursday, March 13–Saturday, March 15, this fair will feature a range of exceptional artisans, as well as workshops, demonstrations and special events. sxsw.com/renegade-craft-fair ASCAP's 1914 charter members. Irving Berlin is on the far right. ASCAP Turns 100 Performance-rights organization ASCAP (American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers) turned 100 on February 13. To celebrate its 100th anniversary, ASCAP launched an interactive "100 Years, 100 Days" website this past November (ASCAP100.com). In the 100 days leading up to February 13, ASCAP has been highlighting a different year, beginning with 1914, with photographs and significant milestones for the company. In addition, ASCAP has published a couple of commemorative videos, released a book entitled A Friend in the Music Business: The ASCAP Story, and is featured in an exhibit in the Library of Congress through July 26.. V2Venture Back at V2V for 2014 Now through April 11, innovative new companies can enter to compete in this SXSW-meets-Vegas style pitch event. sxswv2v.com/v2venture New Sports-Related Programming Track Shaquille O'Neal emerged as one of the most popular speakers at the 2013 event. In 2014, we build off this momentum with a three-day track of programming related to sports, athletes and popular culture.
