SXSWedu's New Playground New for 2014, the Playground is an expansion of last year's Makerspace, and will highlight makers, STEM education, gaming, arts and more through innovative displays, compelling talks and hands-on approaches. Jon Favreau's Chef to open SXSW Film 2014! Filmmaker and actor Jon Favreau gets back to his roots with the delicious indie comedy, Chef, and we're delighted to present the world premiere as our 2014 Opening Night Film. Written, directed and starring Favreau, the film boils over with a stellar cast that includes Sofia Vergara, Scarlett Johansson, John Leguizamo, Bobby Cannavale, Dustin Hoffman and Robert Downey Jr. Favreau plays Carl, a chef who loses his job and decides to launch a food truck business, attempting to reunite his estranged family: Friday, March 7 at the Paramount Theatre. 8 SXSWORLD / FEBRUARY 2014
