Buzz Screenings and Award Winning Films All Jury and Audience Award-Winning films will receive repeat screenings towards the end of the SXSW Film Festival. Photo by Barclay Ice & Cole MAKING & MARKETING MUSIC Thursday in the Making & Marketing Music Track, presented by Playbook Hub: SETI, Earthling & the Collective Musical Voice will ask whether or not music is a universal voice, while in Futuristic Music Production with Music Robots, Moritz Simon Geist (musician, producer and robotics engineer) will talk about how robots and mechanic instruments can be used to make electronic music … without electronics! On Friday, hear songwriter David Garza and director David Modigiliani discuss the music for the HBO (and SXSW Film World Premiere) documentary Running with Beto in The Beto Doc Film Score: Inside the Co-Creation. CANNABUSINESS Be part of the first year of the Cannabusiness Track, presented by Leafly, and check out Can We Heal Ourselves From the War on Drugs? which will outline the racist roots and lingering legacies of this 30-year debacle. Hemp as a medicinal plant will be discussed in The Future of Hemp and Health, and Wana Brands' Nancy Whiteman will demonstrate how to see through marketing hype in Non-Obvious Trends in the Cannabis Industry. In Friday's The Cannabis Renaissance: Science Validates Tradition Featured Session, longtime advocate Steve DeAngelo will offer statistics showing how cannabis reduces substance abuse, domestic violence, and other socially harmful behavior. INTELLIGENT FUTURE Closing out the Intelligent Future Track Thursday are two sessions about space. In Hi Neighbor! Exoplanet Discoveries by NASA's TESS, astrono- mers will introduce exciting planets that NASA's TESS project has discov- ered. Hear about low earth orbit experiments and what we learn from the microgravity environment aboard the International Space Station (ISS) in Experimenting in a Microgravity Lab.
