16 SXSW 2018 Stage Manager Handbook STAGE CREW RELIEF Most of your stage crew volunteers will get a night off. Stage crew relief are volunteers that fill in at your venue if additional stage crew are needed. They perform the same tasks as stage crew. VENUE WALK THROUGH Schedule a venue walk through with your APM for whenever works best for you, your venue, and your stage crew. We suggest you schedule it on or after the final stage manager meeting because you and your APM will already be at the ACC for that meeting. Remember it is free to park downtown on Sunday so that may be a good time to get your stage crew to meet you. Out of town stage crew are not required to attend this walk thru. What you should review when on your walk through: • Orient your crew with the venue • Identify all entrances and exits • Make a plan for where you will store the backline (cannot block passageways or doorways) • Go over beer tickets for the artists with the venue • Outline an emergency plan with stage crew SHIFTBOARD This is the online database in which all volunteers must register and where they are scheduled. You will be given access to this database which will allow you to view contact information of your volunteer stage crew. Shiftboard is also where you view your stage crew schedules. Scheduling will be completed by the ES&R staffer, Annette Pairett. Stage managers are not permitted to change stage crew schedules under any circumstances. The schedule is a delicate balance to make sure you have enough volunteers each night. Schedules are also tied to hospitality credits, so if a change needs to be made please reach out to Annette, via email, with the stage crew member on copy to discuss the schedule change so that everyone is in the loop. HOW TO ACCESS YOUR CREW LIST: 1. Log into Shiftboard: www.shiftboard. com 2. Click on "My Crews" located at the top in the dashboard 3. Click on your venue - this will take you to your crews page 4. Then click "members" - this will take you to the list of your volunteers. 5. When you click on a volunteer's name it will take you to their profile - where you'll be able to see their contact information. HOW TO ACCESS YOUR CREW'S SCHEDULE 1. Log into Shiftboard: www.shiftboard. com 2. Click on "My Crews" located at the top in the dashboard 3. Click on your venue - this will take you to your crews page 4. Then click on "schedule" in the toolbox - this will take you to the calendar where you can view it.
