THURSDAY MARCH 18 THIS WAS DEFINITELY MY BEST SXSW experience in the 12 years I have been attending. We had Volovan, one of the artists our com- pany represents, perform to a full house at the BMI/ Remezcla.com showcase at Mi Casa Cantina. I met with almost all the people we expected to and made a lot of new interesting contacts along the way. Our relationship with SXSW was furthered and we expect to organize and expand Mexico's presence next year. - Ricardo Haas, HOME Artists (Monterrey, Mexico) AS A FIRST-TIME ATTENDEE, the SXSW monster blew me away, but the fact that we were able to drive a 35-foot RV onto the convention center floor and stream incred- ible live performances will stick with me for years to come. It was great to see established bands like Spoon and The Walkmen at Stubbs, but it seems SXSW is more about bands like The Ferocious Few busking eight hours a day on 6th Street, or songstress Krityna Myles blowing us away with an impromptu performance at the con- vention center. Anything can happen at SXSW, and most all of it will leave an impression. - Phil Lang, Bricks and Mortar Media (San Francisco, CA) Cymbals Eat Guitars at Lustre Pearl. Smokey Robinson delivered the SXSW Music Keynote address. Instrumenti at the Karma Lounge. Jovi Rockwell at the Scoot Inn. Local Natives at Emo's Main Room. Dum Dum Girls at Galaxy Room Backyard. Avi Buffalo at Galaxy Room Backyard. Former lead singer of The Undertones and current UK Music CEO Feargal Sharkey in conversation with David Fricke from Rolling Stone Magazine. 24 SXSW ORLD / M AY 2010 Roky Erickson with Okkervil River at La Zona Rosa.
