FRIDAY MARCH 19 SXSW WAS THE HIGH- LIGHT of Grand Atlantic's first US tour; one that had already been great fun but hit a new high in Austin. To be immersed in, and welcomed into, a sea of music-loving bands, fans and industry folks was enormously intoxi- cating, exhausting and exhilarating! - Joe Woolley, Manager: Grand Atlantic (Brisbane, Australia) SXSW IS A FESTIVAL WHERE unexpected things occur. Of course as a band, playing there is all you think about, but soon you realize that you are there for many other reasons. I had the chance to see Holly Miranda inside a Presbyterian church, a band I haven't heard of before, and it was an incredible experience, something religious hap- pened there … never seen a standing ovation for a sermon before. I discov- ered a new band, without any influence from radio, TV or the Internet, and when this happens, it is a great feeling." - Jorge Marron, Ventilader (Mexico City, Mexico) BRINGING THE DUCK DOWN XV Year Anniversary Show to SXSW was an incredible experience and a true honor for the label. We hoped for a strong turnout, but we were Mwangaza Children's Choir at the Carver Museum Boyd Vance Theater. pleasantly surprised at having over 800 people come through the Scoot Inn to see the show. The highlight for me was seeing people watching the show from the street. It was a testament to the artists and respect for the label. -Dru Ha, CEO: Duck Down Music (New York, NY) I WAS ABLE TO WATCH LidoLido from Norway perform. When I played in Norway over a year ago, he opened for me. Back then, he was new and a bit unpolished, but his spirit and love shone through. At SXSW though, his talent and passion had caught up with each other, culmi- nating in an incredible performance! Everyone in attendence was feeling every song! Afterwards, he shook hands and took photos with all who asked. Very classy. A true star in the making! LidoLido! - Bun B (Houston, TX) Neon Indian's Leanne Macomber at Club de Ville.
