Friday–Saturday, March 18-19 WE PUT TOGETHER A PANEL ON THE GLOBAL INFLUENCE OF MOD CULTURE at SXSW 2011 that included Ian McLagan Of The Small Faces/The Faces, David Fricke of Rolling Stone Magazine, Phil Alexander of Mojo magazine and Terry Attack of young mod band Thee Attacks. Pete Townshend wrote an essay for a "mod Ryan Bingham plays ACL Live at The Moody Theater. map of London" that we handed out, while our two glamorous modettes welcomed everyone as they passed through the doors. Although I was mildly disappointed that a troupe of Vespa scooters didn't line up outside Austin Convention Center, I do think that SXSW is the only place we could have put together an event with such high-profi le names for the sheer fun of it. – Will Hodgkinson (journalist/ author) I'VE BEEN INVOLVED IN MUSIC FOR OFFICIALLY HALF MY LIFE, and 2011 was my fi rst SXSW. It only took me 15 years to experience what the buzz was about, and on the last night in town happily eating pizza and drinking beer on South Congress, I made a pact with myself that I would never miss SXSW again no matter what might would keep me from it, and that I would grow to become a SXSW veteran at some point. Every bit of our experience was amazing and gave us big ideas to bring home to our (little by comparison) festival, Yoko Ono and Sean Lennon at Elysium. not to mention the bands and conference speakers we will program, the great people we have met, and the friendships formed.
