Monday–Tuesday, March 14-15 disgusting little guys into their mouths. Crickets were crawling all over Tim's face. Jesse put up a good fi ght, but there is no way you are beating Tim League on his turf. Upon being declared the winner, Tim stage dove into the large crowd, who were unwilling to catch him ... he face planted into gravel. Moral of the story ... we love you Austin and we love you SXSW. - Tyler Dawon and Jesse Wiseman (Bellfl ower) I THOUGHT THE BRANDED DOCUMENTARY PANEL WAS GREAT because it dealt with an increasingly common type of media partnership: the co-pro- duction of expository fi lms by brands and fi lmmakers working together. This is a departure from some of the more common types of fi scal sponsorship for documentary fi lms, and I felt that the panel under- scored the fact that creative people tend to want to make something authentic, regardless of whether John Oliver and Chris Hardwick tape The Nerdist podcast. they're independent fi lm- makers or employees at Fortune 500 companies. There were defi nitely quite a few ad agency people and brand reps in the audience. - Annie Lin (Brave Noise Legal) PEOPLE HAVE BEEN ASKING, "HOW WAS SXSW?" and I don't know where to begin. I stare at them for a moment as I remember the giant donuts smothered in pulled pork, awesome movie premieres, cool bands, constructive WIN WIN Q&A with (from left) SXSW's Rebecca Feferman, director/writer Tom McCarthy, Alex Schaffer, Amy Ryan, Paul Giamatti and co-writer Joe Tiboni. Evan Gregory of the Gregory Brothers auto-tunes the news at the Interactive Awards. Keynote: Blake Mycoskie. Medusa car from Bellfl ower. From left: Nick Batzias, Tom Quinn (Magnolia Pictures), Tim League (Alamo Drafthouse Cinema), Dustin Smith (Roadside Attractions) and Matt Dentler (Cinetic) get their drink on in "No Reservations: A Highly Spirited Film Panel." Closing Remarks with Bruce Sterling. "Beyond 3D: How Interactive Screenings Will Save Cinema" panelists (from left): Rien Heald (MUVCHAT), Clinton McClung (Seattle International Film Festival), Greg MacLennan and Henri Mazza (Alamo Drafthouse Cinema).
