Sunday, March 13 By all accounts, the audience loved Room 4 Rent (a 7 minute excerpt of a longer fi lm called Summertime). People also were taking the condoms with the fi lm's logo by the fi stful. If they looked prudish, I told them, "This is chewing gum. Guaranteed to protect your mouth from pregnancy." At the last screening, a distributor and a sales agent from LA jumped out of the audi- ence and fought for my attention. I've never felt so important. I told them to have their people to call my people. - Max Weissberg (Room 4 Rent) SXSW IS NEVER about the panels or the keynotes. It's about the serendipitous encounters with colleagues, crushes and captains of industry. After I'd presented The Onion's tale of digital TV dominance at the IFC House, I found myself upstairs at Buffalo Billiards with comedy icons Scott Aukerman, Doug Benson and Reggie Watts, who all dropped serious art and sci- ence on my still-developing creative mind.
