Double Dose of Sacred Bones Notes News & Paul Williams and Stephen Kessler Paul Williams at SXSW Music Conference Wednesday kicks off the start of the Music Conference at the Austin Convention Center. Famed songwriter and current ASCAP president Paul Williams sits down with fi lmmaker Stephen Kessler to discuss his long and storied career on the panel "War Stories from the Songwriting Battlefi eld with Paul Williams" at 12:30–1:30 pm in Room 16AB. Rodriguez Comes to SXSW Born and bred in Detroit, Rodriguez recorded a couple of psych-folk masterpieces in the early '70s before vanishing from the public eye, only to return over 25 years later when people knew his music but not his name. After years of hoping to see Rodriguez perform at SXSW, we get our wish on Wednesday night (March 14) at the Mohawk. The perfor- mance is in conjunction with the screening (also on Wednesday night, at the Paramount Theater at 9:30pm) of Searching For Sugar Man, a new documentary chronicling the singer-songwrit- er's life and music. 26 This year, Sacred Bones Records will host two amazing showcases. First will be the Sacred Bones Music/Film crossover showcase at The Hideout on Tuesday, March 13 with world premiere of videos from Zola Jesus, Crystal Stilts and Pop. 1280, as well as shorts and videos from the Sacred Bones family and catalog, largely curated by in-house videographer Jacqueline Castel, whom Fader named "Director To Watch in 2012". Two Scared Bones acts will also be performing live. Zola Jesus Seoulsonic Returns to SXSW 2012 3rd Line Butterfl y Korea's Seoulsonic returns to SXSW 2012 for a stop on its aptly named Seoulsonic 2k12 North American Tour. Founded by the Seoul-based K-Pop creative/digital agency, DFSB Kollective, Seoulsonic showcases Korea's top breaking artists. Join them at Soho Lounge on Friday, March 16, for Korean punk pioneers Crying Nut, 2012 Korean Music Awards Rock Album of the Year nominee Yellow Monsters, and 2011 Korean Music Awards Song of the Year nominee 3rd Line Butterfl y. All Week! IFC hosts SXSW Music showcases from such artists as Built to Spill, Delta Spirit and Citizen Cope, Wednesday through Friday in their Crossroads House, located at Vice (302 E. 6th St.). Chevrolet also hosts a multiday venue at 612 E. 6th St. with showcases and amazing live art battles. HGTV joins in with The Studio at 304 W 4th St., hosting shows from such acts as The Pierces, ALO, Cymbals Eat Guitars and Jacuzzi Boys, Wednesday through Saturday. Visit These Venues New!
