Saturday–Sunday, March 17-18 THIS WAS THE SEVENTH ANNIVERSARY OF OUR CANADIAN BLAST BBQ AND THE FOURTH FOR CANADA HOUSE and, each year, we fi nd our bands and delegates make more and better connections. The conference, trade show and festival provide signifi cant multi-national networking opportunities for Canadian industry and talent. We're getting outstanding feed- back from our members who have come to see SXSW as an imperative event for their export endeavors to the U.S. and the rest of the globe. A quick look at past showcasing acts and this year's Grammy and Juno recipients is a won- derful example of the legacy of our relationship with SXSW. DJ Z-Trip told mash-up secrets at Artist Central. We look forward to an even more successful SXSW 2013. –Stuart Johnston (President: Canadian Independent Music Association (CIMA)) BOOM! SXSW 2012 WAS DENSE, INTENSE AND VERY, VERY FUN. I started off my Austin experience by sampling some amazing tacos including a butter- cream ice cream dessert taco with candied jalapeno garnish (what?!). When the music festival started, I saw Bruce Springsteen give the keynote speech, caught some amazing live performances by The Magnetic Fields, Lionel Ritchie, Daniel Johnston, The Cult (I caught the guitar pick at the end!), Gary Lucas, participated in my fi rst fashion "Producer to Producer" panel with (L-R) Malcolm Burn, Dave Way and Tim Palmer. show at Style X (I didn't even trip going down the catwalk – olé!) and performed as part of the Montreal International Jazz Festival Showcase. Oh, and Taiwan has some of the cutest, tightest pop bands ever! –Krista Muir (Lederhosen Lucil - showcasing artist) ■ Sleigh Bells at ACL Live at Moody Theater presented by VEVO. Turquoise Jeep on The Jacked Stage by Doritos. Best Coast at the Hype Hotel presented by Hype Machine/Feed The Beat. Light Asylum at Hotel Vegas. Comedian Doug Benson at Esther's Follies.
