La Vida Boheme recently played Vive Latino and followed with a sold-out show in Mexico City opening for Arctic Monkeys. U.K. artist Kindness is set to play Le Poisson Rouge on May 17, making his New York City debut. Recently featured in April's issue of Interview magazine, Sub Pop's Niki & The Dove is sched- uled to drop their debut album in August. Rising lady of rap Azealia Banks has switched management, again delaying the release of her much anticipated EP 1991 to take advantage of her new resources. The long awaited fourth album from Fiona Apple drops June 19. After performing at SXSW and singing his fi rst English language song in public, Juanes' fi rst single from his Juanes MTV Unplugged album, "La Señal," entered the Billboard Latin chart's top 10. 12 Musicians and badgeholders had access to lots of professional instruction and advice in our fi rst-ever Artist Central room. Ian Astbury, frontman for The Cult, gave a vocal clinic; former Doobie Brothers and Steely Dan guitarist Jeff "Skunk" Baxter blew minds with theoretical physics and guitar mastery; DJ Z-Trip showed his mixing-and-mashing secrets and Com Truise shed light on his synth/keys setup. Berklee School of Music presented in-depth clinics on Pro Tools, Reason and Ableton Live, and crowd-favorite Martin Atkins doled out sage touring advice (and blueberry muffi ns). And those were just some of the highlights. Look for Artist Central to be bigger and even better in 2013! The concert was the fi rst installment of the third season of the "American Express Unstaged" series and was directed by recent Academy Award nominee Gary Oldman. Previous "Unstaged" series install- ments have featured Arcade Fire and Alicia Keys among others, including Jay-Z at SXSW 2012.
