Friday, March 16 YOU'LL NEVER KNOW WHO YOU'RE GOING TO RUN INTO AT SXSW. We fl ew in from the U.K. and started a chat on the way to the escalators at the airport with two guys: one was an artist, and the other, his manager. The manager and I were marveling about how we both had the exact same backpacks on our backs from an electronic music festival in Amsterdam ... Then we turned to the quieter artist and asked the name of his project. He was super modest and nice, and didn't mind that it took a few times for him to say it for us to get it because of his French accent. "Maveeon? Marion?" Turns out it was DJ Madeon, and the next time we saw him was DJing a massive party to a PACKED audience that was com- pletely freaking out. It was amazing. –Anastasia Dimou (Feathers - showcasing band) SXSW 2012 WAS THE FIRST EVER FOR ROCK THE CAUSE. As a music non- profi t, the contacts we made were company transforming. Our defi ning SXSW moment came when a SXSW offi cial came to our showcase at Lambert's. The Rock the Cause staff found ourselves being whisked away to see Bruce Springsteen's show. We were led backstage, watched as security was waived off and we found ourselves on the main fl oor. We were in shock. Our tour guide looked at us and said "I appreciate all that you guys are trying to do. Have fun!" Boy did we have fun! –Scott Herold (CEO and Founder: Rock the Cause) Author Steve Stoute interviewed Nas. Juanes on the ACL Live at the Moody Theater stage presented by BMI.
