SXSW GUIDEBOOK 2017 9 4 SXSW FESTIVALS THE SUNDAY AFTERNOON TRADITIONAL CLOSE TO THE MUSIC FESTIVAL SXSW BARBECUE & SOFTBALL ABOUT THE BARBECUE The SXSW Barbecue is an authentic Texas spread, with all the trimmings (vegetarian options as well), prepared by Austin's own Ruby's BBQ, plus beer, soft drinks, and water. It's free for all Music and Platinum registrants, and Showcasing Artists (one meal per badge; you MUST bring your badge, or Artist Packet). The area is also open to the general public, with food and soft drink tickets available for sale. NOTE: For insurance reasons, we cannot sell beer to non- registrants; however, you're welcome to bring your own (no glass containers, please). There's plenty of bleacher seating, three rounds of usually entertaining softball to watch, and a great chance to catch up with other registrants in a relaxed setting. 1PM 2:30 4PM SXSW Volunteers Agents/Managers Mixed Media Print Media Musicians Clubs/Talent Buyers Records SXSW Staff SUNDAY, MARCH 19, 2017 SCHEDULE 11:45am First shuttle buses leave hotels 12-1pm Player check-in and warmup 12:30pm Barbecue & beer service begins 1:00pm First round games begin 2:30pm Semifinals (fields available for pick-up games) 4:00pm Championship game YOU MUST REGISTER IN ADVANCE TO PLAY SOFTBALL JERSEYS PROVIDED BY MAJESTIC ATHLETICS SIGN UP: Thursday–Friday, March 17-18 | 1:00pm-5:00pm ACC, Level 4, outside the Day Stage Sign up for one of eight teams, divided by type of business (see right). There are three rounds of games, including a final with live announcers and a rendition of "Take Me Out to the Ballgame." We recommend you bring your own glove, if you have one, but we have loaners as well, which you can sign out with proper ID. PRESENTED BY TEXAS PETE PLAY IN THE SXSW SOFTBALL TOURNAMENT Any SXSW Music or Platinum Registrant or Showcasing Artist can play in the SXSW tournament. TRANSPORTATION TO KRIEG FIELDS AND AIRPORT Krieg Fields are about a 10-minute drive southeast of downtown (see the SXSW Festival Map). SXSW will run a van shuttle between the fields and the Hyatt, Hilton, and JW Marriott downtown hotels, beginning around 11:45am, and running every 20 minutes or so. With advance notice, we can also take you directly to the airport from the field; please notify the softball table at the convention center if you need that. RAIN PLAN In case of rain, barbecue will be served 1-4pm at Fiesta Gardens, on Jesse Segovia St. in East Austin; see details at the Softball Sign-up table. If the weather looks iffy on Sunday morning, call the SXSW Softball Hotline, 512/467-7979, to find out if the game is on or not.
