SXSW GUIDEBOOK 2017 6 6 SXSW FESTIVALS SXSW FILM FESTIVAL A True Celebration of Vision and Talent SXSW FILM FESTIVAL SCREENINGS CELEBRATING INNOVATION AND EMERGING TALENT NINE DAYS OF DISCOVERY A true celebration of vision and talent both behind and in front of the camera, the acclaimed SXSW Film Program draws thousands of fans, filmmakers, press and industry leaders eager to immerse themselves in the most inspiring, smart, and entertaining new films. Now in its 24th year, the 2017 SXSW Film Festival will host nine days of screenings, featuring provocative documentaries, outrageous comedies, genre outliers, and so much more. SXSW dedicates itself to helping creative people achieve their goals, and the Film Festival has become known as a career launching pad for exceptional talent. Attendees have the opportunity to connect with visionaries from all corners of the entertainment and media industries, making the SXSW Film Festival an unparalleled experience at the forefront of discovery, creativity, and innovation! From March 10th - 18th, you'll have the chance to check out the best available work from emerging talent and film veterans. The full lineup will include 85 World Premieres, 11 North American Premieres, 5 U.S. Premieres, and 51 films from first-time filmmakers. These films were selected from a pool of 2,432 feature-length film submissions, with a total of 7,651 films submitted for consideration this year. READY TO CATCH A SCREENING? For all film descriptions and screening schedules, pick up a Film Fest Pocket Guide or download the SXSW GO app. Get accurate, up-to-the-minute seating status information for each screening at the festival through the app or check out the venue status board at vsb.sxsw.com. It works on a green, yellow, and red system, where green means there are plenty of seats, yellow means it's filling up fast, and red means it has sold out.
