28 CONFERENCE TECH Conference Tech Crew Chiefs: Nate, Thom, Rick, Lauren, Mark, Jake, Amanda, Melanie, Rafael Conference Tech Days of Operation: March 7 – 19, 2016 Conference Tech Check In: Volunteers who work on this crew will check-in at various venues throughout downtown. Conference Tech Crew Duties/Areas of Responsibility: Conference Tech Volunteers help panelists with technical setup: connecting to projectors, microphone audio levels, room lighting and general troubleshooting. Volunteers are responsible for introducing themselves to the panelists before the beginning of each session and finding out if there are any needs, such as audio-out for video, a special dongle to hook up the presenters laptop to the projector, or anything else. Once these tasks are completed and the panel begins, our volunteers may sit, watch and enjoy the panel, but still be attentive to any additional challenges that arise. Conference Tech Crew Attire and Reminders: Conference Tech Volunteers should wear the SXSW Volunteer t-shirt and tasteful bottoms. Remember, the temperature inside the venues fluctuates and layering is recommended. Wearing comfortable shoes and socks is recommended. If you will be working before you receive your credential (for example, you may be waiting for a music badge, but working during Interactive) you will need to pick up a working volunteer day pass from your crew chiefs. What Else Should Volunteers Know About the Conference Tech Crew: A great perk of working as a Conference Tech Volunteer is the opportunity to see a lot of exciting programming. For additional information please check out the Contech website: http://contechcrew.org/ How to Contact the Conference Tech Crew: Volunteers who work on the Conference Tech Crew are asked to first email the crew chiefs if you are going to be late, miss a shift or need other assistance, time permitting. The Conference Tech Crew email is sxcontech@gmail.com. If it's less than 2 hours prior to the start of your shift, email your crew, then call the Flake Task Force at (512) 404-4623 if you're going to be late or miss the shift.
