26 COMEDY Comedy Crew Chiefs: Traci, Dominic, Sara, JP Comedy Crew Days of Operation: March 12 - March 19, 2016 Comedy Crew Check In: Crew check in at their assigned venue.  Venue assignments vary each shift, so  check your schedule for your venue  assignment.   Comedy Stage Crew Duties/Areas of Responsibility: The Comedy Crew handles all aspects of  SXSW Comedy shows, including patron  line management at venues, admitting  patrons into venues for shows, ensuring  that performers start and end on time,  clearing the venue after performances,  and monitoring green rooms at venues to  ensure continued positive festival-performer  relations. Volunteers may be assigned to click or  check credentials, use RFID scanners, assist  with lines, and answer patron questions.   Inside of the venue, volunteers may act  as ushers while assisting with clearing  the venue, removing debris from previous  performances, and monitoring for empty  seats when the venue is near capacity.  Additional roles may include acting as  a runner to communicate between the  different areas of the venue, or as a green  room attendant assisting with guest lists  and performer needs. Comedy Crew Attire and Reminders: Comedy Crew volunteers must wear  their SXSW Volunteer t-shirt and tasteful  bottoms. Some volunteers on our crew  may work outdoors the entire time. They  should prepare for extreme cold, hot/sunny  weather, or bring umbrellas/ponchos if the  weather forecast calls for rain. If you will be  working before you receive your credential  (for example, you may be waiting for a music  badge, but working during Interactive) you  will need to pick up a working volunteer day  pass from your crew chief. What Else Should Volunteers Know About the Comedy Crew: Comedy Crew is as fun as it sounds! While  some volunteers may have to be outside  for long periods of time, volunteers may  have the opportunity to see performances  if venue capacity allows. Flexibility is also  key. If you love to laugh, this crew is perfect  for you! It's a good idea to know the performers,  venues and schedule prior to working  your shifts. Check out all things comedy at  sxsw.com/comedy. How to Contact the Comedy Crew: Volunteers who work on the Comedy Crew  are asked to first email the crew chiefs if  you are going to be late, miss a shift or  need other assistance, time permitting. The  Comedy Crew email is sxcomedycrew@ gmail.com.  If it's less than 2 hours prior to  the start of your shift, email your crew, then  call the Flake Task Force at (512) 404-4623 if  you're going to be late, or miss the shift.
