C O M Artist Gifting Suite Over 7,400 SXSW showcasing artists from around the globe attended the Artist Gifting Suite this year, where they were treated to gifts and services from M.A.C. Cosmetics, SoundToys, Stetson Hats, Charged.fm, Reviver, SoSo Happy and the very popular Jansport backpacks. Symmetry Labs cre- ated a gorgeous light installation, Dave and Busters provided video games, SafeCharge offered charging stations and artists were treated to food, drink and chair massages. SXSW Accelerator Opens for Applications on June 29 Back for 2016, SXSW Accelerator is a live pitch event that showcases innovative startups from around the globe to a panel of industry experts, high-profile media personnel and venture capitals. The competition is open for startup applications beginning Monday, June 29. The deadline is Friday, November 6, so be sure to apply before time runs out. Indie Label Ghostly International Experiences Biggest Year Since Founding Ghostly International holds a special place within SXSW Music, and over the years has showcased artists from their independent but expertly run label based in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Much to our delight and more to their gain, Ghostly has reported its biggest growth year since its inception in 1999. Thanks to upticks in merchandise sales, strong releases, and new partnerships with Warby Parker and more, Ghostly is enjoying the fruits of its con- sistent and patient labor. We're always happy to see indie labels succeed while doing so at the tempo of their own drum. Enter the Third-Annual SXSW Gaming Awards In its first three years, the SXSW Gaming Awards has grown quickly, reaching a live audi- ence of more than 2000 attendees in 2015, along with 120,000 online viewers. As a point of pride for the SXSW Gaming festival, the SXSW Gaming Awards strive to highlight excel- lence in gaming and geek culture over a swath of categories covering AAA and indie titles, tabletop games, online entertainment and more. Staying true to SXSW's indie roots, the Gamer's Voice award is a crowd-voted honor that includes the bonus of a free exhibition spot on the SXSW Gaming Expo floor for nominated indie titles.
