C O M | N O V E M B E R 2 0 1 4 | S X S W o r l d 5 Design Curator Paola Antonelli to Keynote SXSW Interactive Friday, March 13 A world-renowned thinker in the impact of design on everyday life, Paola Antonelli, Senior Curator of Architecture & Design and Director of Research & Development at MoMA in New York City, will serve as SXSW Interactive 2015's Friday Keynote. Outside of her role as at MoMA, Antonelli was appointed director of a new Research and Development initiative in 2012. She is currently working on a project that considers the manifestations of violence in con- temporary society through the lens of design: sxsw.com/interactive/conference/keynotes. Second Annual SXSWfm HAAM Benefit Show a Success The Health Alliance for Austin Musicians (HAAM) is a non-profit organization that helps Austin's musicians with healthcare costs. SXSWfm's second annual HAAM Benefit Day showcase was a huge success thanks to everyone involved. Local acts Residual Kid, The Sour Notes, Possessed by Paul James and Otis the Destroyer rocked. Pink Avocado and the Palm Door on Sixth graciously donated 20% of the night's bar sales to HAAM. Last Call to Submit Your Film to SXSW 2015 It's not too late to submit your feature or short film, music video or title sequence for the March event! ADE Returns to SXSW for 2015 SXSW staffers were back at October's Amsterdam Dance Event (ADE), the world's largest dance music festival and conference. SXSW's electronic music programmer Jes Elliott spoke on a panel about dance music in the U.S. market, while 2014 alumni artists Tom Trago, Dauwd, and Jameszoo performed at top showcases throughout the city. Keep an eye out for ADE events at SXSW in 2015. eduFILM Accepting Submissions The eduFILM, part of SXSWedu, highlights compelling documentaries and narratives about education. Submit a film through December 5 by visiting sxswedu.com/edufilm-submission. 2014 SXSW Eco Wrap-up Eco conference (Oct. 6–8, 2014) registrants enjoyed inspiring keynote sessions from such speakers as U.S. Secretary of Energy, Dr. Ernest Moniz and famed oceanographer, Silvia Earle. Attendees also caught SXSW Eco's first-ever con- cert series in Brush Square Park with Robert Ellis, Jamestown Revival and Ray Wylie Hubbard, that was open to the public.
