This year's Austin trip was incredibly successful for our teams and artists. Is it bad that I'm beyond proud that ALL of the artists at our showcase went on exactly on time? It was a blast seeing The Hush Sound and Sydney Wayser perform as well as a killer week at Interactive for W. Kamau Bell, Kevin Avery and Janine Brito from our Comedy division. Here's to many more successful SXSW shows for all of us in the future. - Emily White (Whitesmith Entertainment and Readymade Records) M A R K D AV I S / G E T T Y I M A G E S --- As an employee of a streaming radio service, I'm always listening to the world's radio. There is nowhere better to sample up-and-coming artists than SXSW. And I can proudly say that I succeeded in stumbling across one of the festival's gems—an unplanned acoustic performance by Hamburg-based girl duo, BOY, who had suffered technical difficulties but made the most of the situation by opting to perform an intimate and darling set on Hickory Street's patio. With a vantage point just two feet away, I continue to remember this lingering highlight among an otherwise blurry two weeks. - Robyn Bald (TuneIn) Funkmaster Bootsy Collins joined Public Enemy's Chuck D for a conversation.
