APP ANNEX SXSW Music Gear Expo Radio and International Day Stages The 4th annual SXSW Music Gear Expo is a unique event where manufacturers can market, promote, and connect. Open today (Thursday, March 14) through Saturday, March 16 from 12-6pm daily in Exhibit Hall 5, the Gear Expo is FREE and open to all SXSW showcasing artists, registrants and the general public. While the nightly showcases get most of the attention at SXSW Music, experienced attendees know that the Day Stages offer relaxed and intimate settings where they can see showcasing artists up close. New for 2013, the App Annex is a special section featuring hands-on access to music creation apps: virtual guitars, keyboards, drums, mixing and DJ software, and more. The Music Gear Expo Store, run by Strait Music, offers accessories including drumsticks, cables and strings, as well as a range of instruments (from Gear Expo vendors) and instrument repair. The Music Gear Expo Lounge, sponsored by Jam on iPhone is a comfortable place to unwind and relax. Be sure to swing by, use the free Wi-Fi and enjoy our complimentary daily Happy Hour. Flatstock 38 Located in Exhibit Hall 4 and co-presented by the American Poster Institute (API), Flatstock 38 features the works of the world's top gig poster artists. New for 2013, check out live sets by SXSW artists. Free and open to the public, hours are today (Thursday) from 2-6pm, and Friday and Saturday from 11am-6pm. Artist Central This year, we are proud to bring back Artist Central, an area featuring programming specifically geared towards our musician registrants. Whether you are a professional or beginner, you are sure to learn something new in sessions covering everything from digital marketing to crowdfunding to managing recording budgets. Don't miss a special songwriter session with the great Richard Thompson. Artist Central is open to all artist wristbands, as well as Music and Platinum registrants, and will run today through Saturday in Ballroom E of the Convention Center. Full schedule available at sxsw.com/music/sessions/artist-central. 40 SXSWORLD / MARCH MUSIC 2013 The Radio Day Stage, presented by ASCAP, is located on the fourth floor in Ballroom D. This stage features artists curated by top independent radio stations including WFUV (New York City), The Current (Minneapolis), KUTX (Austin), WXPN (Philadelphia) and KCRW (Los Angeles). The International Day Stage is located in Ballroom G on the fourth floor and will host some of SXSW's most unique and diverse acts from around the globe. Shows on both stages run until 6pm today and Friday, and from 12 - 3pm on Saturday. Schedule information can be found at sxsw.com/music.
