SXSW Trade Show Film Startup Alley The SXSW Trade Show is the heart of the converging industries experienced at SXSW celebrating the organizations that defi ne the ever-evolving relationship between media, technology, creators and consumers. Open today (Sunday, March 10) - Tuesday, March 12: 11am-6pm and Wednesday, March 13: 11am-4pm in Exhibit Halls 3 & 4 of the Austin Convention Center. Meet the entrepreneurs and investors shaping the future of entertainment. Featuring engaging sessions, networking opportunities and startup demos, Film Startup Alley is THE place to discover the technology set to revolutionize entertainment. Taking place today (Sunday) on the fourth floor of the Austin Convention Center. Next Stage Startup Village Be a part of the interactive workshop "Crowdsourcing Digital Device Design" as Peter Hoddie helps you create new gadgets in realtime, catch a laugh with Data, a robot-turned-comedian, or join the "Power of Good Panel" with Adrian Grenier, Ryan Bingham and more. During Music, enjoy performances from Surburban Living, Ivan & Alyosha and stay tuned for a special "SXSW Drunk History" event presented by Comedy Central. Located primarily on the fourth fl oor of the Hilton Austin Downtown (500 E. 4th St.), the SXSW Startup Village showcases the various startup events at SXSW, including SXSW Accelerator, startup-related panels, meet ups, lounges, pitch events and mentoring / coaching sessions. Open Sunday through Tuesday, 9:30am-6pm daily. Some days will also include evening programming and/or events. The fifth annual SXSW Accelerator will take place Monday-Wednesday. A live audience, as well as a panel of expert judges, will discover the latest advancements in social media, mobile applications, web entertainment, and more. The Monday and Tuesday portions of SXSW Interactive Accelerator are open to Interactive, Gold, and Platinum badges. Film badges will also be allowed entry to the SXSW Accelerator: Entertainment and Gaming Technologies sessions on Monday and Tuesday. On Wednesday, the SXSW Music Accelerator is open to Music and Platinum badge holders. See sxsw. com/interactive/startupvillage/accelerator for details. Block Party There is no better way to meet some of the innovative exhibitors than the SXSW Block Party, a big booth crawl where exhibitors extend their custom hospitality. Look for the signature green and yellow balloons on Tuesday from 4-6pm. New for 2013, get stamps from the most exhibitors and be entered for a chance to win 2014 SXSW Platinum badges! Vimeo Theater Screenings Don't forget that the Austin Convention Center is also a hub of nighttime activity with nightly fi lm screenings in the Vimeo Theater, located in Exhibit Hall 2. Interactive Workshops Workshops at SXSW Interactive include a wide range of programming from some of the top companies in their industry. These workshops will be held at the AT&T Executive Education and Conference Center (1900 University Ave.), Sunday-Tuesday. Registrants must RSVP in advance to attend these workshops at sxsw.com/ interactive/sessions/workshops. Find the schedule page for the selected workshop. Then on the right side of the page, click "Sign in to RSVP." You will be prompted to enter your SXsocial login information. After logging in, you will be taken back to the schedule page. Click "RSVP to this" to officially sign-up. SXSW Gaming Expo Ends Today The SXSW Gaming Expo is a three-day tribute to the gaming culture. Today (Sunday) is the fi nal day of the expo, which is free and open to the public, from 12-8pm at the Palmer Events Center (900 Barton Springs Rd.). Join us as we close in style with performances by Youngblood Hawke and Ra Ra Riot, courtesy of Legendary Entertainment. 52 SXSWORLD / MARCH FILM-IA 2013 SX Bookstore The SX Bookstore, operated in conjunction with Barnes & Noble, is the onestop shop for the books authored and published by the talented individuals at SXSW. In addition, the SX Bookstore also plays host to an array of special appearances. Located in the Austin Convention Center on the fourth floor, Ballroom D Foyer, the SX Bookstore is open today and Friday from 10am6:30pm, and Saturday from 10am-4pm.
