1 0 SXS W O R L D | F E B R U A R Y 2 0 1 9 | SXSW.COM IN BRIEF Photo by Steven Snow SXSW Trade Show News For the first time, the Job Market and Startup Spotlight will move into the SXSW Trade Show (Sunday, March 10–Wednesday, March 13 in the Austin Convention Center, Exhibit Halls 2–5). The Job Market is open to all SXSW registrants and will run during the entire trade show, offering employers opportunities to acquire talent in the largest exhibition — and epicenter of business — at SXSW. Startup Spotlight is a one-day event on Monday, March 11, where some of the most promising startups come together with investors for a fun, relaxed day of networking and pitches. Startup Village returns for its second year in the SXSW Trade Show, bringing together startups, entrepreneurs, investors, and innovators from a wide array of industries and sectors, including mobile apps, 3D printing, SaaS, FinTech, and more. Wellness Expo Back for Second Year Running Saturday, March 9 and Sunday, March 10 at the Palmer Events Center (900 Barton Springs Rd.), the SXSW Wellness Expo brings together professionals in all fields of health and wellness. The event will feature group activities such as meditation, demos and workshops on the SXSW Wellness Expo Stage, free classes from world-renowned instructors on the Fitness Stage, and highly interactive activities with industry professionals in Conscious Conversations. Discover 2019 SXSW Showcasing Artists Tune in to SXSWfm at player.sxswfm.com for radio shows corresponding to each Showcasing Artist announcement, as well as genre-focused highlight shows. Shows are archived at Mixcloud.com/SXSWfm. Follow SXSW on Spotify and Apple Music for regularly updated playlists featuring artists performing in March. Browse the full lineup on the SXSW Schedule and earmark your favorites. Stay tuned for the 2019 Music Preview Guide, which will feature write-ups from a diverse mix of music industry pros on the Showcasing Artists they are excited to check out at SXSW. It All Starts with a Song at SXSW Songwriting will take center stage at SXSW 2019 with Featured Speakers Amanda Palmer and Ross Golan (Making & Marketing Music Track) talking about the art of writing top hits. Other songwriting- focused sessions will include Behind the Scenes of Music Sample Licensing, Country Music's Struggle to Define Women, and more to be announced. Flatstock 69 Poster Show and SXSW Marketplace Presented by the American Poster Institute (API), Flatstock 69 will display works from the world's top gig poster artists. Running Thursday, March 14–Saturday, March 16 in the Austin Convention Center's Exhibit Hall 4, the show will feature artwork of varying styles, colors, and tech- niques for sale by the talented artists who created them. Now in its third year, SXSW Marketplace (March 15–16) featuring local Austin brands, as well as hand- picked national and global favorites, will be located in Exhibit Hall 5, adjacent to Flatstock 69.
