From up-and-comers like Fontaines D.C., PNTHN, and Angie McMahon, to established acts like Deerhunter, Laura Jane Grace, and Priests, and international artists such as Flohio, yahyel, and Yung Lean, there's an abundance of music to be discovered at SXSW 2019. Photo by Adam Hamze Introducing Focus15 Sessions New for SXSW 2019 are Focus15 sessions, consisting of a group of four presentations related to a specific theme, topic or trend, all taking place within a one-hour time block. Advertising industry-related presentations include Emily Goldhill with Making Great Work is Never Enough, Joshunda Sanders with Content is a Dirty Word: Rebranding Creatives, Harmony Eichsteadt with Realigning ROI and Community and Kiara Williams with Is Your Brand Adequately Protected? Presentations addressing how we are seen include Karen Young with For Women, by Women: Knowing Your Audience, Georgia Scott with The Public Pubic: Conversations Beyond the Bush, Strong is the New Pretty author Kate Parker with Disrupting Gender Norms: Authenticity in Advertising and #girlgaze creator Amanda de Cadenet with The Female Gaze: Representation and Empowerment. Language-based presentations include Y&R Chief Strategy Officer Yusuf Chuku with Losing Our Empathy and How to Get It Back, Marina Filippelli with Dear Spanish: You're Sexist, Let's Fix That, IBM Lead Experience Design Copywriter Mbiyimoh Ghogomu with Linguistic Kung Fu: How to Disarm Weaponized Words, and Juan Ramiro Fernandez with South American Storytelling Beyond Stereotypes. Coding & Development Track To Offer Hands-On Experience New for SXSW 2019, the Coding & Development Track (Saturday, March 9– Tuesday, March 12 at the Westin — 310 E. 5th St) will be Workshop-based only, with the exception of meet ups and mentor sessions. Some program highlights include: Accelerated Introduction to Machine Learning, Designing APIs for Growth, and Intro to Growth Engineering: Grow to Global Scale.
